Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
At Thames, students have the opportunity to earn points (Tiger Tickets, Class Dojo) for following procedures and expectations campus-wide. With enough points, they are able to participate in our end of the month PBIS events. Students are categorized in groups based on the number of points they earn (listed in order from most to least): ROAR, STRIPES, PAWS, TAILS. More points equal more activities!
Below is a summary of our PBIS Monthly Activities this year.
August- International Festival
Based on the story, "Around the World in 80 Days."
Students made passports during the week leading up to the event. At the International Festival, students used their passports to "travel" to Hong Kong, Egypt, and London. In Hong Kong, they learned how to use chopsticks and played a relay game. In Egypt, they learned to write using hieroglyphics. In London, they used cardboard boxes and cones to build the London Bridges over the Thames River.
September- Dancing Drums
Students participated in an interactive percussion-based Character Education Program provided by Dancing Drums in New Orleans.
October- Fall Festival
Students received a punch card to redeem for fun fair-like activities.
- Ping Pong Toss
- Face Paint
- Knock Down
- Mystery Box
- Spin and Win
- Duck Pond
- Concessions and More!
Students in the ROAR category were also entered into a drawing for a free movie pass courtesy of the Grande Theater. The recipients of this drawing were: Jordyn Johnson, Zion Keys, Amira Thomas, and Aaron Walker.
Special thanks to ALL of our volunteers and sponsors: Thames PTA, The Grande Theater, Coca-Cola, Pastor Rankin & Still Water Baptist Church, and Mrs. Lori for making this event a huge success!
